The Roaring Fork Fire Rescue Authority provides emergency and non-emergency services throughout Basalt and Snowmass Village and the surrounding areas. This includes 24-hour emergency response to a wide variety of critical situations. Operational capabilities include but are not limited to:

Hazardous Materials Response
Auto Extrication
Trench Rescue
Low Angle Rope Rescue
Confined Space Rescue
Swiftwater Rescue

The department also operates active fire prevention and emergency preparedness programs which provides for fire inspections, hazardous process permitting, burn permits, fire code enforcement and community education. Each year the Roaring Fork Fire Rescue Authority spends over 4,000 hours completing hands-on training activities, which build important practical skills and provide each firefighter and first responder with the abilities needed to quickly and correctly respond to all types of emergency situations.


Medical Protocols
The Roaring Fork Valley has adopted valley-wide medical protocols. The protocols are a series of treatment modalities for specific illnesses and injuries. This ensures consistant care throughout the service area. These protocols are reviewed annually and submitted to the Medical Director.
